13 April - Een zuurstoftank aan boord van Apollo 13 explodeert waardoor de missie
voortijding moet worden beeindigd. Jim Lovell, Fred Haise en Jack Swigert, de bemanning
van Apollo 13 landden door de ontploffing aan boord dan wel niet op de maan maar ze zijn
wel recordhouder als de mensen die het verst van de aarde werwijderd zijn geweest. Op 13
april 1970 waren ze 401.056 km van huis.
29 April - USA valt Cambodja binnen om de Viet Cong te verdrijven.
6 Mei - Feyenoord legde als eerste Nederlandse voetbalclub beslag op de Europa cup I. In
het San Siro stadion in Milaan werd er in de finale met 2-1 gewonnen van Celtic, door
doelpunten van Rinus Israel en de Zweed Ove Kindvall.
17 Mei - Thor Heyerdahl vertrekt met de Ra II in Marokko en landt op 12 juli op de kust
